About Andy Klaehn
Andy Klaehn was born in Kitchener, Ontario, where he studied classical
clarinet with Victor Sawa of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. With a focus on
jazz improvisation, Andrew later attended Humber College in Toronto where he
studied with Eddie Sossin and Pat Labarbera. He has played with the Stratford
Festival Orchestra, the K-W Symphony, and also worked as a sideman for Bo
Diddley.
In his numerous travels, Andrew has also appeared as a popular opening act
for noted performers such as Maynard Ferguson, Moe Koffman, Kenny Barron, Carol
Welsman, Barry Elmes, and Peter Appleyard. Andy has also worked as a show band
musician for Carnival cruise lines.
He is currently an active
member of the applied teaching faculty in the Department of Music at University
of Guelph, and is private teacher of woodwinds. In addition to teaching, Andrew
also maintains a busy performance schedule both in the live music scene and in
the recording studio.
